Maatamo ja Kuutamo. Earthshine and Moonshine.

Syksy on valon ja pimeyden leikkiä. Päivä lyhenee huimaa vauhtia, tiistaina 23.9. on syyspäiväntasaus. Päivä ja yö ovat yhtä pitkiä.  Aika tasataan samoin kuin maaliskuussa. Alkaa pimenevä syksy.  Luonto valmistautuu lepoon, värikkäät lehdet tanssivat maahan.

Kuulostaa utopistiselta nykymaailmassa.
Maatamo näkyy parhaiten Kuun ollessa kapea sirppi, koska silloin Kuusta katsottuna Maa paistaa kirkkaana täysimaana.
Ikuinen kiertokulku,  valon ja varjon vuorottelu. Kevään, kesän, syksyn ja talven.  Rytmi, jossa meidät on luotu elämään. Kunpa vain pystyisimme sitä noudattamaan!

Autumn is a play of light and darkness. The day shortens fast and fall equinox takes place on Tuesday September 23rd. Day and night are of equal length, time is evened like in March, the darkening autumn begins. Nature prepares for rest, colorful leaves dance to the ground.

Evenings are full of beautiful light rocking us to sleep with the nature. It’s time to light candles and spend more time inside. Fall harvest is over and it’s time to rest.

In today’s world, this sounds utopistic. The speed of working life increases towards the winter. With less natural light we spend our time almost 24/7 in fake light, which unfortunately messes up our biological clocks. Many suffer from seasonal affective disorder and excessive tiredness. Sleep is too short and of bad quality.

At the moment life seems to be getting worse and worse everywhere and for everyone. Economic news is full of layoffs and recession. There are wars; hatred and suspicion raise their heads. Western countries diet and fight against diseases of affluence, elsewhere people starve and try to stay alive. Few people dare to make changes in their lives, no matter how much they suffer. The worse the visions painted by the news, the less people dare to live the life they would like to. They feel forced to hold on to what they have so things don’t get even worse.

But. In life you can never be sure of what will happen tomorrow. All you have is this moment, yesterday is already gone. Perhaps it taught you something, even if you feel sad or bitter right now. Everything has a meaning and a reverse side.

Moonshine illuminates the surface of the Earth during full Moon. The opposite of this is Earthshine, which refers to the surface of the Moon illuminated by the light reflecting from Earth. Earthshine is best seen when the Moon is a narrow crescent. During that time the Earth shines full and bright as seen from the Moon.

An eternal cycle, alternation of light and shade, spring, summer, autumn, winter. The rhythm we are created to live in. if only we could follow it!
